1996 – A Troubled Sleep

A Troubled Sleep is one of my earliest properly-recorded performances, a wry exposition on sleepwalking performed in May 1996 at the McManus Theater at Loyola College in Baltimore. A simple, rambling story about somnambulism, A Troubled Sleep was staged largely in the dark, with yours truly wandering the stage with a flashlight, armed with a microphone and a variety of homemade electronic processors.

The piece originally emerged as a segment of my 1991 large-scale narrative performance, This Nonstop March Around the World, a series of stories and songs exploring the unconscious, issues of astronomical scale, and the random associations of living at the end of the 20th century.
